What notification access enables
After you review Quietly’s disclosure, give consent and enable Android notification access, Quietly can receive notifications that Android makes available. Depending on the source app, these can include the sending app, message text, timestamps, conversation details and preview images.
This lets Quietly save a searchable history and apply blocking rules. It does not sign in to your messaging accounts or retrieve an entire conversation. Hidden or undelivered content is not made available by granting access.
Notification content and network activity are separate
Your notification content, rules, searches and insights are stored and processed on the device. They are excluded from Firebase Analytics events and ad requests. Local notification data is excluded from backup, so it should not be treated as a cloud archive.
The free app includes Google advertising after required consent and limited Firebase technical or usage analytics. These services may process separate app, device, diagnostic and network information. Google Play handles purchases. Optional Pro removes ads; it does not mean the entire app has no network activity.
Keep what you need, for as long as you need it
Both Free and Pro offer 7, 30 or 90 days of retention, or retention until you delete records, subject to storage limits. The default is 30 days. Reducing retention can permanently delete older history.
Excluding an app from History deletes its saved history and stops future history storage for that app. Blocking rules for it can still apply. Successful block records and their content are separate options, off until enabled.
Stopping and deleting do different things
- Stop processing: stops reading and blocking new notifications while preserving existing history and rules.
- Revoke Android notification access: removes system permission. Stopping processing in Quietly does not revoke it automatically.
- Delete history: removes saved records. New ones can still arrive if processing remains active.
- Reset local data: removes history, rules and related local settings. Read the confirmation before proceeding.
Deleted local records cannot be recreated by enabling access again or buying Pro.
